Not only did David Earnhart share about his family's holiday food tradition, he also brought us biscuits and gravy so we could sample it ourselves!!!
Below are photos that David references during his talk.
La Tamalada Fundraiser
We are so pleased to announce that because of the generosity of this community, we were able to raise $2544 at this year's Tamalada. All of these funds will go toward our Blue Theology building project. The photos below show just a little bit of the whole process of making the tamales, setting the space, and then, of course, enjoying the feast!
Special Services
Thanksgiving Vespers
During the week of Thanksgiving we hosted a very small and very meaningful Vespers Service. Our group was led through prayer, meditation, and deep conversation. When we were finished with our worship gathering we shared cookies and hot spiced apple cider, courtesy of Judy DeVine. What a treat!
Christmas Eve
Our community was greeted by walkways filled with candles on Christmas Eve. We had a short and beautiful service where we enjoyed the music of the season, a children's story from Pastor Janette, and a message from Pastor Ryan. And as we closed out our time together, we formed a circle of candle light and sang Silent Night.
It was a lovely and meaningful evening.
Hanukkah with Temple Isaiah
Every year Temple Isaiah invites us to their Hanukah celebration. It is always a simple and lovely event that feels like we are being invited in their home. Several of Harbor's members joined this year because it was the last in person service that Temple Isaiah will host at Harbor. While we are sad to see them close their in person services, we are mostly so grateful for many years of love and friendship.
Korean Convocation
The Pacific Southwest Region's Korean Convocation was held at Harbor this year. Pastor Sadie was invited to offer some words of welcome for the event. We also shared a huge buffet of delicious foods, were gifted with winter scarves with the chalice printed on them, and got to participate in a blessing of the children. We are so grateful that the Korean disciples feel at home at Harbor and we look forward to welcoming them again soon!
Harbor in the Community
Elaine is pictured in uniform for the Holidays
Elaine had a wonderful time taking young people shopping as part of an outreach effort at the County Sheriff's office.
From Elaine:
We wrapped the gifts the youth were able to purchase during the Shop with a Cop event sponsored by the Anaheim Police Department and Walmart. It enriched our holiday spirit to see the joy on the faces of the youth who got to shop for their families.
Youth Theater Performances
This season our youth have been busy! We got to see Molly in A Monster Calls, Nicholas in Trap, and Willow in Frozen Jr. It was such a fun time and we want to thank all of those who were able to come out and see them in these special performances!
